In the PTA welding process the plasma arc is focused on the anode with significant increase in arc density, energy and temperature. The alloying powder is supplied directly to the plasma arc and shielding gas ensures protection of the welding pool against atmospheric impact. Energy of highly-concentrated plasma arc is almost completely consumed in the metal melting process. Heat input into the base metal and interfusion ratio are eliminated.
